As part of the Kids Temple we are organising "Dia de los Muertos", a Mexican festivity which celebrates life and death. "Dia de los Muertos recognizes death as a natural part of the human experience, a continuum with birth, childhood, and growing up to become a contributing member of the community. On Dia de los Muertos, the dead are also a part of the community, awakened from their eternal sleep to share celebrations with their loved ones."(source)
We will make an altar, give "ofrendas" (offerings), play games, dance and eat to honour the spirits.
An event for the whole family!
Wearing a colourful costume is encouraged. Not spooky. It is NOT Halloween. On the contrary, it is a tradition to break with the taboo of death.
If you feel like it, you can put in the altar a picture of a loved one who has passed to the other world, a card with his/her name or short biography, a letter which can go in the fire if you desire, or/and another thing that feels like honouring your loved one.
Warm fire, wraps, quesadillas and other traditional dishes available!
Get schminked (make-up) at our location.
